This has been a productive weekend for me. I've completed two new pieces and I've fixed a bug I found in my comment system. Due to incomplete testing on my part, every image would show every comment. Oops. Fixed it.
The big project of the 4 day weekend was my wisdom in words piece. This was a massive project, not for its size, but for the text, which I placed on more random paths. I found that Photoshop, Illustrator, and even InDesign, all have limits to how big of a path on which you can place text. I ended up using Illustrator to place the text on individual paths (I linked the text from path to path), then converted the text to curves, THEN I was able to import the text as shape layers into Photoshop. The rest of the painting was done in Photoshop. This took longer than any piece I've done so far. Hope you like it. Be sure to zoom in to get to the text (not all of which is legible and that is on purpose).
Today, I've posted another piece, monsters of the id. The name, as some of you might guess, is my homage to Forbidden Planet - one of my all time favorite movies. I had not intended to make this piece an homage, but as I was working on it, the theme came to me. A lot of more deliberate brush work went into this one, as I painted each little blotch of color individually. Be sure to let me know what you think about it in the comments for the painting!
Hope your holiday weekend is fun, not too hot, and filled with good food and drink! I'll be having some of Donnie's fried chicken tonight! Yeah, you're jealous and you know it.
