72" x 48" @ 240ppi; part 3 of my digital painting series, the ascension of man. If you have not already done so, please check out part 1 and part 2.

I wanted to focus on belief - from organized religions to cults. While working on this piece, my thoughts were on the similarities and disparities of all beliefs, as well as the duplicity/hypocrisy of beliefs, or to be more accurate, the duplicity and hypocrisy of the believers. There is a method to the font sizes - it's *partly* the relative sizes of the religions/cults; but it goes beyond that (no, I'm not going to go in to more detail). None of my research is terribly scientific, for what it's worth - just simple online research. It's also worth noting that no effort was made to place any particular religion higher or lower in the list, with regard to importance or visibility, other than to place the more major belief systems in the center. There was also no effort made to place any particular religion next to another. Any perceived ironic or otherwise meaningful placement of one religion next to another is simply luck - or fate.

If you feel that I have slighted your beliefs in some way, then you're missing the point and I don't really care. Please feel free to fatweet me on twitter (@MattLindley)
