Started with a photo of jeans... A lot of manipulations and this is where I ended up. Playing with halftone filters and color channels.

Playing with custom textures and meshes in Blender (not a fractal, this time). Created a texture in PS and used it in Blender to texture a custom mesh. Then back to PS for editing. Also skipped AI this time. I just rendered the scene out at an extremely high pixel resolution. Takes a little more time to produce, so I just let it render over night.

It may be difficult to tell that this began as a fractal rendering. I think that half the fun is coming up with a fractal worth looking at. The other half is wrecking and distorting it beyond all recognition. To me, this looks a little like an aerial shot of some alien terrain.

More abstract fun. Wish I had something deep and profound to say here... I don't. Sometimes a painting is just a painting.

A nod to Mr. Lovecraft with this one. As I played with the colors, I started getting this feeling of retro horror illustration.

A simple abstract of repeating, similar shapes. Why "Flashes of Life?" Not sure. It just seemed alive to me. The shapes first struck me as stars. Then they started to look like something under a microscope, like a virus. So, stars/flash, virus/life... you figure it out.

Had some fun with this pseudo abstract of bamboo shoots. I had originally kept the colors very natural - then I started playing around. I found *so* many different versions that I loved; but, I settled on this one. I really like the glow. Makes the bamboo kind of mystical to me. Hmm... Mystic Bamboo... sounds like the name of a New Age group.

Yeah, well, it looks slightly like something gory, to me anyway. This one was created using Photoshop's 3D engine, rather than Blender. For some tasks, Photoshop does quite well. After the initial render, I did some post-processing in Ps, then more work in Ai, then back to Ps to finish up.

Pain in the butt piece. Not exactly what I wanted it to be. After so many crashes (Blender and Illustrator), I realized that my computer is just not powerful enough, and lacking in RAM, to pull off what I was going for.

And another "dreamscape" abstract. This one began from a photo I took in my yard of tree bark, if you can believe that. The photos serve as a jumping point for these pieces. I just let my imagination and experimentation take it from there. Hope you like it!

This one started from a couple of abstract photos I took with my iPhone. I used them in Blender to create a layered texture on an object, rendered it, then continued editing/filtering/etc in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

I'm thinking of dirty city streets, broken glass, chipped and peeling paint, old buildings, layer on layer of grime and sweat laid down by generations of people living and working in tight quarters. For some people, this is a nightmare. For others, it's perfect. Not sure why my mind went there today. Maybe it's all the clutter, dust, and cat hair I've been cleaning out of my office today.36in x 58in.

We have this vine in our back yard, on an arbor overlooking the pool. I'm not sure what kind of plant it is - might be a type of wisteria. The blooms are small, purple and red-violet. The fragrance makes me think of peppercorn, but slightly sweet. The thing is a triffid. I think if you stood underneath it for very long, it would swallow you up.

What do you see? I chose the name only because it made me think of a tissue cross sample, showing muscle and veins. I started this last night. Now, in the bright light of day, I'm not sure I see what I saw last night. I still love it, though. Other than that, I don't have much to say about this one.

58in x 36in @ 300ppi; Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop; If I had to list my favorite flowers, orchids would probably be in the top 5. Did you know that vanilla comes from an orchid? That alone would earn it a place in my top 10.
